Starting high school is a major milestone — and for the Class of 2029 at Hoosier College and Career Academy (HCCA), that journey begins in a fully online environment. To help students step confidently into this new chapter, HCCA invited incoming freshmen to participate in a special activity: sharing their chosen pathway or career choice. This reflective exercise encouraged students to think about their futures, set personal goals, and take ownership of their educational journeys from day one.

Embracing a New Way of Learning

Beginning high school online presents a unique set of opportunities and challenges compared to traditional brick-and-mortar experiences. For many freshmen, learning how to manage time independently, stay organized, and build connections with classmates virtually can feel overwhelming at first. HCCA understands this transition and has built a strong support system designed to guide students every step of the way.

Through live class sessions, one-on-one teacher support, virtual clubs, and mentoring programs, students have countless opportunities to engage, ask questions, and find their place within the school community. Our counselors and advisors work closely with each student to help them set realistic goals, stay motivated, and celebrate their successes — big and small.

The Importance of Positive Vision

Encouraging students to speak about their interests and goals early in their high school journey helps foster confidence and purpose. By identifying a career path or personal interest, students begin to see the real-world relevance of their coursework and the importance of perseverance. Whether a student dreams of becoming a nurse, a software developer, a business owner, or an artist, articulating that vision helps set a foundation for long-term success.

Looking Ahead

The Class of 2029 is just beginning their high school journey, but already they are building a strong foundation for the future. At HCCA, we are proud to walk alongside them — offering guidance, encouragement, and a community that believes in their potential.

As these students grow and evolve over the next four years, they’ll be able to reflect on their early ambitions and how far they’ve come — with a clear path, a strong support system, and a mindset focused on success.
